The beaches at Cancun are breathtaking, some of the best I have been on.

CNV00010.JPG

The parasols are a definite must on this beach with temperatures of over 30C.

CNV00011.JPG

First real day of sun and carrying too much weight.

CNV00012.JPG

Time for a beer to quench the thirst after an energetic afternoon lazing in the sun and swimming in the Caribbean Sea.

CNV00013.JPG

A typical square in downtown Cancun.

CNV00014.JPG

This is where I had my first Mexican meal on the evening that I arrived.

CNV00015.JPG

A great place for breakfast the waitresses wear these traditional multicoloured balloon like dresses.

CNV00016.JPG

A memorial in downtown Cancun situated in the middle of a large traffic island where I had a little picnic.

CNV00017.JPG

The group sets off. After a long walk from our hotel, here we all are at the bus station in downtown Cancun watching over our bags, rather hot and impatient to get going.

CNV00018.JPG

These fellas up the pole swing around; it’s apparently a tradition here in Tulum.

CNV00019.JPG

Our first glimpse of a Mayan ruin, this is Tulum on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

CNV00020.JPG

A view of Tulum, you can see the turquoise sea in the background, the Mayan site is perched upon the top of a cliff overlooking the Caribbean sea.

CNV00021.JPG

Our guide at the Tulum Mayan ruins, he spoke very slowly and precisely.

CNV00022.JPG

An impressive view of the Tulum Mayan ruins.

CNV00023.JPG

A view of the beautiful white sandy beaches of Tulum, taken at the end of our guided tou, from the cliff top where the Mayan ruins were.

CNV00024.JPG

An impressive view from the cliff top at Tulum.

CNV00025.JPG

The view from my window at our hotel in Tulum.

CNV00026.JPG

Leaving our hotel at Tulum packed and ready for our next adventure.

CNV00027.JPG

At the border crossing having just left Mexico and passing into Belize.

CNV00028.JPG

Arriving at the border crossing into Belize from Mexico.

CNV00029.JPG

The bus stops and we grab some refreshments. Typical picture of a town (I think it was Orange Walk Town) in Belize with a statue of Queen Victoria in the middle of the street

CNV00030.JPG

Wandering about in Orange Walk Town waiting for bus driver to decide to go on a bit more.

CNV00031.JPG

The hustle and bustle of the water taxi area of Belize City.

CNV00032.JPG

We get onto our water taxi in Belize City, this is the life.

CNV00033.JPG

Another view of the water taxi area of Belize City.

CNV00034.JPG

This is real “James Bond” stuff as we speed along getting very wet in our water taxi from Belize City to Caye Caulker.

CNV00035.JPG

Looking back from the boat to Belize City as the sea taxi gets up a bit of speed.

CNV00036.JPG

Ready for our sea food meal cooked on the BBQ at a reputed restaurant in Caye Caulker. Drinking a local “pink” brew!!

CNV00037.JPG

During our meal in Caye Caulker. Still checking out the local brew.

CNV00038.JPG

After our meal in Caye Caulker. Having had quite a bit of the “pink” stuff.

CNV00039.JPG

A view of our hotel on the sea front in Caye Caulker.

CNV00040.JPG

A breezy but very warm morning on the beach in Caye Caulker.
